Rediscovering Gold

Smith, Craig R., Rediscovering Gold in the 21st Century, Third Edition, Phoenix, Arizona: Idea Factory Press, 2003, pp172 inc illustrations.

With the price of gold trading at around US$669 per troy ounce, I guess this book was written a few years ahead of the recent gold price rally. But it's never too late to read a book like this anytime.

Management for the Retail Jeweller

Blakemore, Kenneth, Management for the Retail Jeweller, London: Iliffe Books, an imprint of the Butterworth Group, 1973, pp150 inc illustrations.

How to Choose Business Premises

Howard Green, Brian Chalkley, and Paul Foley, How to Choose Business Premises: A Guide for the Small Firm, London: Kogan Page, 1986, pp154. Dustjacket. As good as new.

When a proprietor of a small firm wants to start his business, he just simply sets up shop and does his business. I don't think he has the time to read such a book like this when he wants to start his business rightaway.

You ask any bookseller who sets up a bookshop. He prefers to sell this book than read it.

How to Buy Secondhand

Ball, Richard, How to Buy (Almost Anything) Secondhand, London: Astragal Books, 1981, pp216 inc illustrations.

After buying this nice used (secondhand) hardcover book from Romie some twelve years ago, I'd indeed learned to buy some great stuff secondhand, especially books, and saved me a bundle of cash.

I've used this bundle of cash to buy more great stuff and display them on my blogs.

The Tiny Book of Tiny Houses

Walker, Lester, The Tiny Book of Tiny Houses, New York: The Overlook Press, 1993, pp96 inc illustrations.

I think I might just gonna downsize from my present high-rise apartment to a tiny house and save me a bundle of cash.

But the high price of that small plot of land might really suck away my bundle of cash.

Piggy Banks

Savi Arbola and Marco Onesti, Piggy Banks, San Francisco, USA: Chronicle Books, 1994, pp139 inc color illustrations.

This handy book talks about the art of saving money in the form of coins. It's a rather pricey little book that I'd bought for S$17.99 from the former MPH bookstore at Stamford Road in 1996.

On second thought, instead of buying this book, I could have bought a cheap $5.00 piggy bank back then and saved the balance of $12.99 in the form of coins.

The Exercise Exchange Program

Rippe, Dr. James M., The Exercise Exchange Program, New York: Simon & Schuster, 1992, pp384. Dustjacket. Nice used.

I'd sold several books on Yahoo! Auctions Singapore for the past two-and-a-half years, and this is the first book that I'd ever bought from a great Yahoo! Auctions and eBay Singapore seller in an auction on February 7.

New Guide to the Moon

Moore, Patrick, New Guide to the Moon, New York: WW Norton & Company, Inc., 1976, pp320 (text), pp16 (b/w photos).

Here's another hardcover book written by the same author about space exploration and the moon. I'd bought this interesting book about 12 years ago from a bookshop in The Adelphi at Coleman Street.

METEORITES

Robert Hutchison & Andrew Graham, METEORITES, New York: Sterling Publishing Co., Inc., 1993, pp61 inc color illustrations.

This is a squarish thin paperback that I'd bought at a relatively high price of S$23.85 from the Kinokuniya bookstore at Orchard Road in 1999.

Meteorites from Outer Space

Norton, O. Richard, Rocks from Space: Meteorites and Meteorite Hunters, Second Edition, Missoula, Montana: Mountain Press Publishing Company, 1998, pp449. B/W Illustrations & Color Plates.

This is a thick and heavy paperback that I'd bought at a high price of S$55.25 from the Kinokuniya bookstore at Orchard Road in 1999. It's almost like a manual written about meteorites from space.

The Search for Our Beginning

Hutchison, Robert, The Search for Our Beginning: An Enquiry, based on Meteorite Research, into the Origin of Our Planet and of Life, London: Oxford University Press, 1983, pp164, Illustrations.

There used to be a Skoob bookshop, located inside the Bras Basah Complex in the early 1990s, whereby I'd bought this interesting hardcover book.

From Meteorite to Man

Professor J. W. Gregory and Others, From Meteorite to Man: The Evolution of the Earth, London: C. A. Watts & Co Limited, 1930, pp58 inc illustrations.

From my records, I'd bought this small and handy book about ten years ago from a bookshop called World Books, but I can't clearly recall its location in Singapore.
